I am not spoiling anything in this FAQ so don't worry if you want to avoid spoilers because most of this stuff will be explained in an intro or prologue of some sort and don't really have much to do with the overall main part of the story.
Q: What is ReGeneration?
A: ReGeneration started off as an idea I had for a comic book or a novel of some sort. I used that idea as a basis for a "TV Series Pitch" for a class project. My group accepted my idea and helped create it into a bigger vision. I loved the story that we created so much that I decided to try and finish expand on it and turn it into something. I don't want to waste this huge story that others might enjoy.
Q: What's it about?
A: You'll find out much more about it when it starts, but the basic idea of it is it's set in the not-so-distant future where this technology was created that can bring the recently deceased to life. It caused controversial problems, much more than it did help people, but that's not what the main story is. The main story is about a mother and child on the run from the government. The story is about conspiracy and mystery so as it goes on more details will be revealed about the mythology and history of what's going on.
Q: How is the story being told?
A: At the moment, we can't work on this thing with a budget so we're doing this all free. As such, a comic book or TV pitch is out of the question for now. Instead, we will be preparing a weekly blog that tells a part of the story post by post. If it picks up attention we will see where we can take it from there and even see if this idea can be profitable.
Q: What does "ReGeneration" mean?
A: Pretty simple title explanation, actually. The name is a combination of "regenerate" and "generation". Sure, you can say "or, just 'regeneration'" but "generation" is definitely a part of that title. The "regenerate" part comes from the story where the technology is able help the body regenerate rapidly and bring life back to the deceased. "Generation" implies a new life, a new story, a new era. This being a semi-futuristic story, this title just naturally clicked with the story.
Q: What are the "Pods"?
A: Before you ask, no, they are not super 'iPods". The "pods" are the machines that regenerate the body. They used to be called "LRM" but we didn't like that name, so I just though it needed a simple name. I started thinking what designs they would look like and thought of an oval-like shape and just thought calling them "pods" will get a similar effect to readers without having to describe them in detail. Anyone can picture these machines just by the name and so it felt right to choose that.
Q: How do the Pods work?
A: This is where I say I don't want to give out too much information. This is in part an answer to this question and in part of the story in general. We often discuss with each other about how things would work or how things would happen and what it comes down to is, it's a fictional story and if it doesn't really matter it doesn't need to be explained. There is a process we have in mind for how the Pods work but the actual idea of human regeneration, the science behind it, and stuff like that, it doesn't really matter. The focus is that the story is revolved around how people are able to live after death. How it happens isn't important. Just like a super hero having powers that weren't explained at all (radio active spiders aren't always an excuse for super powers), it doesn't matter because the reader knows what the situation is and can believe in this world of fiction, as long as it's not over top and completely ridiculous. This answer may not seem too clear now, but there is something else about the machine I'm talking about that I don't want to spoil that relates to this question and this answer clears it up while also addressing the original question of how the machines work. Basically, what I'm saying is, they just do. Go with it.
Q: How many people are working on this?
A: Currently, 4. I'm trying to get more people involved.
Q: Can I help?
A: Perhaps. I would prefer contact about this project through deviantART.
Q: I want to make art for this!
A: We want artists, but we can't pay anything. So unless you're willing to do it for free, there's probably no point.
Q: My question is not listed here!
A: Then ask it! The only way I can answer is if I know the question. Ask away!
